We are breeders engaged in breeding Poodles, Bernedoodles, Goldendoodles, and Golden Mountain Doodle, Golden Retriever, and Bernese Mountain dog. Our dogs are considered beloved members of our family. We created this Guardian-Home Program to grow our breeding program while still providing each of our breeding dogs with a loving environment in a guardian family. By joining our program you desire to, and will act as a guardian for a Poodle, Goldendoodle, Bernedoodle, Golden Mountain Doodle, Golden Retriever, or Bernese Mountain dog that is either a female potential or proven breeder, or a male potential or proven breeder, subject to the terms of this agreement. The following will explain the Guardian Home Program, including our requirements for guardian families while said dog is active in the breeding program, obligations we will assume as owner, and how said dog will become a permanent member of your family. Benefits of the Guardian Home Program This dog is “pick of the litter,” with an estimated value of $10,000-$15,000. Your initial cost is ($0.00). Red Door Canines(owner) will pay all vet costs associated with the breeding of the dog. Initial Obligations of Guardian Family In order to be considered for the Guardian Home Program, we require that you: (subject to Sydney and Shelley’s discretion) Live within 2hrs of the greater Piedmont Triad or Coastal Carolina area *Please initial aboveOwn your own home, or have permission from your landlord *Please initial aboveHave physical fencing to provide a safe and secure environment for the dog. This also protects this dog from any unplanned, unwanted pregnancies, which is crucial! *Please initial aboveNever leave the dog off leash in an unsecured or public area. NO dog parks or socials allowed! *Please initial aboveHave reliable transportation and willingness to bring the dog to us when needed throughout the year for breeding purposes (i.e. testing, breeding, whelping, etc). All routine/emergency vet care is to be done by an approved veterinary office *Please initial aboveMaintain open lines of communication with Sydney and Shelley in the designated group message concerning any matter related to the dog. *Please initial above Keep the guardian dog on Sydney and Shelley’s food of choice (Open Farm- Homestead Turkey and Ancient Grains) *Please initial aboveUnderstand that Sydney and Shelley may need to make decisions concerning your female or male, and you will have to respect those decisions. Examples may include, but are not limited to: keeping the female or male longer than originally anticipated, additional vet care, etc… All decisions are made in the best interest of the dog *Please initial aboveOwnership *Ownership and all rights, title and interest in the dog shall remain with the Owner (Sydney Cobb and Shelley Schwitzerlett). If the dog is a female, any puppies born to the dog shall be the sole property of the Owner, and the Guardian Family shall have no ownership interest of possession rights to any such puppy. If the dog is a male, all semen shall be sole property of Owner and the Guardian Family shall have no ownership interest of possession rights to any use of the semen.The dog shall be used as breeding stock exclusively by Red Door Canines, and under no circumstances shall be bred to anyone other than as directed by Red Door Canines. After the dog ceases to be a breeder, Owner shall, by written evidence of transfer, assign and transfer ownership of the dog to the Guardian Family following spay or neuter.Possession *Upon the execution of this Agreement, Owner shall transfer possession of the dog to the Guardian Family. The Guardian family shall retain possession of the dog during this Agreement, subject to its obligations to return possession of the dog for breeding purposes, and shall provide physical care to, and supervision of the dog subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement.Owner’s Possession for Breeding Female Owner requires access to female breeding dog for reasons including, but not limited to: Veterinary appointments (to monitor pregnancy–Possibly two or more visits). *Please initial aboveBreeding- first sign of going into heat (bloody show) until a successful tie (usually 5-7 days). You can bring her to Red Door Canines every other day-3 times on average, or leave her in owner’s possession during this time. The arrangements will be agreed upon between the owner and guardian home. *Please initial aboveWhelping 10-14 days prior to due date, and up until the puppies are weaned at approximately 6-8 weeks of age *Please initial aboveThe Guardian Family shall not transfer possession of the Dog to any person without the prior written consent of the Owner. *Please initial above If a female, take possession of the Dog from the Guardian Family for purposes of whelping and care of puppies. *Please initial above Red Door Canines has the right to visit the residence of the Guardian Family as necessary to discuss with the Guardian Family any issues concerning the care and supervision of the dog. *Please initial aboveFemales will not be bred more than 4 times, following the protocol put forth by our vet. *Please initial aboveIf Sydney and/or Shelley finds it difficult to reach the guardian family, is met with roadblocks, cantankerous comments and or texts that make this working relationship hostile, and/or refusing to do anything Sydney and/or Shelley asks, the dog will be removed from the home– no question. *Please initial aboveGuardian Families are NOT granted any personal visitation days with the female while she is in possession of the owner that include visitation with puppies. This is not in the best interest of the puppies, and is for the puppies’ safety. Visitation with your girl is scheduled at the discretion of Red Door Canines. Our first concern is the health and wellbeing of our moms and their puppies.. *Please initial aboveGuardian Family ObligationsRaise the dog as an indoor dog. NEVER leave the dog outdoors unattended or tethered to anything. *Please initial aboveWhen left at home, safely contain the dog indoors, in an appropriate sized crate. *Please initial aboveComply with Owner’s nutritional and dietary guidelines and pay costs associated with feeding the dog. *Please initial aboveProvide the Dog with regular exercise and socialization. *Please initial aboveProvide pictures and updates monthly *Please initial aboveSchedule and pay for all veterinary appointments (other than those associated with breeding, which will be scheduled and paid for by the Owner) and provide routine medical care appropriated for a breeding dog. *Please initial aboveContinue ensuring dog is compliant, crate trained, house broken, leash trained, does not jump, mouth or excessively bark. Their pups’ safety relies on calm and focused behavior. *Please initial aboveGrooming: Keep the dog properly groomed, with care given to matting. Shaving guardian dog is not allowed, unless given prior permission. *Please initial aboveNotify Owner of planned vacations, change of address, phone or email. If the dog needs to be boarded while you are away, it is done at an approved boarding facility or at Red Door Canines at the expense of the guardian family. *Please initial aboveMake certain that the Dog is available for breeding purposes. *Please initial aboveDo not post anything on your private social media pertaining to the puppies or mama dog without our consent. You may share non breeding related photos, or posts from Red Door Canines. *Please initial aboveIf the dog dies due to negligence while in the care of the guardian family, payment to Red Door Canines in the amount of the total cost of the dog must be received within 30 days. *Please initial aboveTermination of AgreementThis Agreement shall terminate upon the occurrence of any of the followingImmediately, upon the transfer of ownership of the Dog to the Guardian Family. *Please initial aboveImmediately, upon Owner’s determination that the Guardian Family is non-compliant with the terms of this Agreement and such non-compliance poses significant risk to the health, welfare and safety of the Dog, at which time possession of the dog returns to the Owner. *Please initial aboveImmediately, for noncompliance and or hostile communication between owner and Guardian Family. If Sydney and/or Shelley feels there is no longer a professional working relationship, this contract is void, and the dog remains with Sydney and/or Shelley. Please understand this is NOT your dog and decisions are made with the dog and puppies first and foremost. Trying to sabotage the breeding process because you no longer want your dog out of your home for two to three months a year is unacceptable and this contract will be void. If you are not emotionally stable enough to allow the dog to be with me during mating/whelping, then please DO NOT be a guardian family. This is teamwork for the greater good. We are providing dogs that heal hearts and truly make a difference. This is not a self-serving agreement. You have to be able to trust me, as I do you. I do not helicopter parent you, so please allow me the same courtesy. *Please initial aboveImmediately, upon the death of the dog from natural or accidental causes. *Please initial aboveImmediately, upon the Guardian Family’s permanent return of the Dog to Owner for any reason. *Please initial aboveIndemnityThe Guardian Family agrees to indemnify and hold Owner harmless from and against all claims, liabilities, losses, cost, damages and expenses by reason of any damage property or injury or death to individuals allegedly caused by the Dog while in the possession of the Guardian Family.
